"Kondo Dyeing Studio", established in 1898 (Meiji 31),
created this tenugui cloth using their traditional dyeing technique of
brush drawing and hand dyeing.
To draw outlines, the artisans put glue on a cloth and once the glue dries,
they dye the cloth using brushes. By changing the brush depending on the color,
it enhances the color's consistency and evenness.
Each step of all the process is carried out manually by the artisans.
"Asahikawa" tenugui is designed with familiar things of Asahikawa
such as Asahiyama zoo, Ramen noodles, Kaimono Koen (shopping park),
Japanese sake, Shinkoyaki, and others.
Designed by Yotsubasha's Ms. Michiko Abe.
It can be used either putting in a frame or hanging on the wall.
So it will accentuate your room.
It also makes it a great souvenir from Asahikawa.
