Brand Concept


januka (pronounced "yanuka") is a jewelry brand started in 2012 by designer Jo Nakamura, who studied product design in New York and the Netherlands.
His concept is to be "slightly out of the paradigm" and detach from traditional views of materials and techniques in jewelry. januka http://januka.jp/

Designer’s Profile

Jo Nakamura
Born 1981. Studied industrial design at the Pratt Institute in New York, then earned his master's degree at the Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands. Studied under Gijs Bakker and Ted Noten. Presented work as a designer under droog design in the Netherlands.
After returning to Japan, he began the "januka" jewelry brand in 2012. In 2016, he designed the lapel pins worn by the representatives of the participating countries at the G7 Ise-Shima Summit. He started the JO NAKAMURA bag brand in the same year. He opened the ""januka/JO NAKAMURA"" atelier and shop in Nishi-Ogikubo in June 2017.
